Burdock root has been used as a food and a medicine for thousands of years both in Asia and Europe. In Asia today it is still a popular vegetable, being enjoyed in stir fry dishes, or shredded and eaten raw in salads, although in Europe it is now more popular as a tea infusion. Dandelion tea and burdock drink has been consumed as a beverage in the British Isles since the Middle Ages, originally as a type of alcoholic mead, but nowadays it is well known as a carbonated soft drink.
