The health benefits of cardamom pods have been known for centuries. They can help detox the body, ease digestion, reduce skin irritation and even fight bad breath. The flavour is distinctive (and rather strong), which is why you won’t find cardamom in too many blends. It tends to dominate the flavour profile. But as a spice, crushed and mixed with organic black tea, it’s a complex tongue tingle: minty, spicy and citrusy, all at the same time. Cardamom tea is traditionally made in India, but these days the seed pods are also cultivated in Sri Lanka, Guatemala and Tanzania. Can be crushed and added to dishes, drinks and pastries.

Serving Suggestion: Crush 3 cardamom pods and seep with 2 teaspoons of black tea leaves in a Cup (250ml) of 100°C. Serve with milk (optional).
