Star anise has so many potential health benefits it’s known as the ‘Longevity Tonic’. We can’t guarantee immortality, but we can promise a delicious cuppa, spiced with notes of aniseed, licorice and sweet pepper. Star anise is the dominant flavour in Chinese Five Spice, and you’ll find it in pretty much every cup of Masala chai (along with its best flavour friends – cinnamon and cloves). As a tonic, star anise tea packs a wallop: it’s got flu-fighting shikimic acid, powerful anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, can alleviate abdominal cramps, and it’s full of antioxidants like quercetin, linalool and vitamin C. The taste is really just a bonus.

Ingredients: Star Anise.

Aroma: Strong, Sweet, and Spicy

Serving suggestion: Add 1-2 star anise pods into a cup (250ml) with hot water (90-95°C) and brew for 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey and garnish with a cinnamon stick.
