Relax with the soothing, roasted flavour of Houjicha Green Tea.
Japanese Houjicha tea is prepared in a similar way to Sencha. The leaves are steamed and dried, crumpled and shaped. But Houjicha goes through one more, very interesting, phase: it’s pan-roasted over piping hot charcoal. This removes most of the caffeine and gives the leaves a russet, reddish-brown colour. Houjicha makes a cracking summer iced tea, and the low caffeine means it’s suitable for toddlers and young children. A proper Houjicha only uses the highly prized first-harvest leaves. The tea shouldn’t be too dark either – that’s a classic sign of over roasting.

Ingredients: Certified Organic Roasted Japanese Green Tea.
Aroma: Warm, toasty aroma with deep, roasted notes and a hint of caramelized sweetness.
Serving suggestion: Add 1 teaspoon into a cup (250ml) with hot water (80-85°C) and brew for 1-3 minutes. Strain and try.
