But just as prima donnas tend to be extravagantly gifted, so Longjing is a veritable superstar among teas. Devotees wax lyrical about it. Like French wine connoisseurs, they can tell you which part of the area it was grown in and will even hazard a guess at what day it was picked. They talk of flavours of spinach, wet grass and spring chestnuts. All in all, this isn't just a cup of Chinese green tea , it's the Champagne of the genre, and as such it should be represented in any good tea retailer or sit-down tea shop.
